Adventures in Avenaria
With the intervention of Eillyass in banishing the necrotic energy from the land, undead were destroyed, and the connection between the Afterworld was sundered. Eillyass then provided her clerics with the ritual “Guidance of the Veil.” This ritual allows the clerics to provide the departed with a way to reach the after world, which allows them to perform their chief duty as shepherds of the dead.
On the longest night of the year, the clerics perform the “Ritual of the Veil,” which allows people to contact the departed. In most cases this is used as an assurance that the departed is at peace, and the departed rarely lead the living to trouble.
The afterworld itself is the land where the dead go to their rest. It is a place that the living should avoid at all costs, and the dead will certainly do what they can to keep the living out. It is ruled over by Eillyass, who weighs each soul on its merits and sends them to their reward, or punishment. While this sounds straightforward, Eillyass stays neutral, and good or evil people are rewarded for doing their role well.
