Adventures in Avenaria
Timeline: (as recorded by human sages)
450: The humans fleeing the old world, land on Avenaria
465: Elves and Dwarves attack the new settlements and begin the dark wars
480: Elves use fallen from all races, raised from the dead to press the humans.
481: Elves lose control of the undead, who begin to attack the living of all races
483: Elves retreat to their woods, and barricade against all others.
484: Dwarves cease hostility against humans to attack undead
486: Human Clerics of the newly found goddess Eillyass take the field, and drive the undead back. Through rituals, the clerics burn necrotic energy from the land, banishing undead forever.
487: Clerics of Eillyass perform the first Festival of the Veil, allowing people to talk to loved ones that passed during the war. This annual Festival becomes the only way that the dead can be summoned or contacted by the living.
491: Humans and Dwarves sign the Accords of the Worldspine.
494: The city of Creston is formed as the largest settlement for humankind in the new world
495: Magic is discovered. Two schools are formed to teach the new arcane force. The Arcanium Aetheric dedicated to the study of arcana, the most accepted of the schools, and the Arcanum Blazen, more dedicated to arcane power. Aracanum Blazen is seen as far more reckless, and is less respected, so very few members exist.
500: Two houses, House Snowden, and House Dreykarl both vie for control of Creston, and the burgeoning kingdom. Snowden is bolstered by Arcanium Aetheric, and Dreykarl by Arcanum Blazen
505: The struggle for power breaks into open conflict when Arcanum Blazen summons Infernal aid to back Dreykarl.
507: Snowden forces Dreykarl, Arcanum Blazen, and their infernal allies from Creston.
508: Arcanium Aetheric uses the walls of Creston to form a barrier against infernal and abyssal creatures.
509: Dreykarl forms the Principality of Halinde when House Dreykarl marries his daughter to House Terupo
509: The people of Creston elevate House Varal to leadership, following the slaying of the last of the Snowden house by assassins.
550: Linande moves the seat of power to the west, and forms the City of Lilande. This was done to protect against incursion from the elves.
555: Elves from the Ardeth Woods, recognizing that humans are rising in power, entreat peace, and the borders of the forest are established and recognized. From that point forward, rules are established for logging in forest.
555: House Terupo founds Halinde and moves their powerbase there. They begin a campaign of terror against the Elves of the Fangwood Forest.
575: The White Winter blankets most of the lands of Avenaria in deep snows. The Orcs of the Wandering Elk teach humans of both Lilande and Halinde how to survive this 100 year event.
576: The White Wyrm Eisenspeer comes down from the Anvils of Gimli hunting the human lands.
578: After two years, the Order of Blaze slays Eisenspeer
656: Both Kingdoms flourish
675: The White Winter comes again. People are much better prepared, again thanks to the Orc tribes helping them.
677: Dragon sightings become more common, mostly chromatic dragons, with very few metallic dragons seen.
725: The Arcanium Aetheric reaches the height of its power, with 25 members. Smaller schools form in various places through the land, but magic remains difficult to master, and rare.
775: The White Winter does not happen. Diviners from various schools of magic are struck insane when they try to divine the reason why. The gods themselves seem to have no answer for their clerics. This time becomes known as the “Age of the Missing Winter.”
785: Practitioners of Magic are afflicted with a plaguelike disease that is dubbed The Aetheric Malaise. The number of mages in the world dwindles to almost nothing.
848: The Black Moon rises over Avenaria. Prophets portent ill times ahead. Mages driven insane during the time of the “Missing Winter” start exhibiting signs of uncontrolled magic, which consumes them.
873: Present time
